Built capital is the infrastructure that helps people obtain their basic needs, such as shelter, access to clean water, healthy food, and a supply of energy. Improving this capital involves focusing investment, both financial and non-financial, on community assets, such as public facilities (e.g., hospitals and schools), grocery stores, water and sanitation, efficient transportation, quality housing, adequate infrastructure, and telecommunications.
